I know that it can be extremely frustrating to try to follow a raw vegan diet (or any diet actually) and to try to stay fit and implement a fitness program on our days.
You have to deal with your own inner resistance, with bad habits that wont go away, with society pressures and the lack of time and stress that are inevitable for anyone who has a life in this world.
You want to be consistent with your beliefs and do whats right for your body, but at the same time, youre juggling with a dozen different projects, you have too many things on your mind and you just cant seem to get rid of some of your negative, bad habits.
You might even feel stuck at times, succeeding for a while on the diet, but then falling back to terrible cravings and binges that never seem to totally go away.
Or you might simply not be able to find the time to do everything that you set out to do. Between a job to maintain, a spouse to take care of and maybe even children in the picture, how can you find the time to:
- Eat raw, organic fruits and vegetables and continue learning about health
- Keep up with a fitness program that really gives you results
- Work on other projects that are dear to you AND on top of everything find some time for yourself
Let me know if you can identify with ANY of the following situations:
I certainly know about it myself as Ive tried for YEARS to implement a fitness program, but somehow, I could never stay motivated with my workouts for long enough!
It seems crazy to realize it, but we live in a world that is DRASTICALLY opposed to the idea of being healthy. Although the benefits of exercise and fruits and vegetables are emphasized everywhere, how is it that:
In 99% of cases, only junk food is advertised?
In 99% of cases, its very difficult to get to eat fruits and vegetables wherever you go?
Its viewed as strange and weird to want to eat a raw food diet?
Theres more movie theater and malls than gyms?
Numbing yourself with food and/or alcohol is socially accepted?
Of course, I could go on and on here and continue to make my case, but I think by now we pretty much agree that it can be at times very difficult to live naturally in an unnatural world.
For some people, cravings are the problem. For others, its social pressure. For others, its maintaining a fitness program.
So how do we overcome that?
First, let me introduce you to the method that does NOT work...
Why All-Or-Nothing Propositions Dont Work
The typical thing to do when youre sick and tired of going back and forth with your diet or fitness program is to try an All-Or-Nothing-Proposition or a Challenge.
For example, youre going to tell yourself:
For the next 30 days, I will eat nothing but fresh, juicy raw fruits and vegetables
and exercise at least 30 minutes a day!
Then, if youre really motivated, you might even convince some friends to join you, to get more accountability.
You could try affirmations, online support forums and constant reinforcement and willpower to help you go through this month.
And in the best of cases, youre going to succeed! But you know what happens generally? The pressure is too great and you eventually go back to where you were.
In the worst of cases, which happens 95% of the time, youre simply going to fail with your challenge, and have even less enthusiasm about trying it again. So in other words, instead of taking a step forward, you took too steps back.
Now, you might be thinking... why would I say something like that if Im the KING of online health challenges, with my 21-Day Challenge and other diet programs?
The truth is... Ive noticed for a long time that these challenges only work for the more motivated and enthusiastic people, who might represent 5 or 10% of my participants.
My purpose with these challenges to teach people something. Thats why I have to continually remind people that no matter what happens with the Challenge, its going to be okay.
Im not saying that these challenges dont have any value. Im just saying that whenever youre trying to do something using willpower alone, youre on dangerous ground.
The reason why these Challenges often dont work is because they rely on willpower and motivation alone... which ultimately is limited and not always renewable!
Its No Longer the What But the How
By now, you probably have a good idea of WHAT you need to do to get healthy. You probably are aware of a lot of information about health, nutrition and fitness so its not so much the WHAT that matters, but the HOW.
You already know WHAT to do. Now, the problem is putting it in practice!
How to Succeed With Your Diet and Health Program
Over the last year, Ive completed changed my approach to implementing positive habits.
In the past, I would try to constantly challenge myself to implement new positive habits. I created countless of fitness challenge, diet challenges and so on... mostly for myself and for my own life.
Ive noticed that although I could do well with this approach some of the times, it increasingly became ineffective overtime, as I could never find as much motivation to try a new challenge as the first time I did it.
What I did is decided to study the fascinating fields of sports psychology and high-performance guru.
What Ive discovered is that it actually shouldnt require any willpower at all to maintain a positive habit, but in fact, should be completely automatic and unconscious.
In fact, you want each of your positive habits to be as normal and ingrained as brushing your teeth every night!
So what Ive done is compiled everything that Ive learned about the topic in a complete and realistic system that works!
In fact, this is the very system that Ive used myself to:
Finally succeed with a fitness program that works and makes me feel great
To manage my time and energy more efficiently, to the point now that Im probably 2-3 times as productive as I use to be... which means I can work less and enjoy life more!
To finally overcome cravings for unhealthy foods.
